Baseball Game Preview: Donna Redskins vs. Weslaco East Wildcats

For the second straight game, Donna will face off against Weslaco East. The Redskins will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Donna lost 12-5 to Weslaco East on Tuesday. The Redskins haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

For Weslaco East's part, Eduardo Hernandez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Hernandez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, James Abrego and Aiden Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Abrego got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one triple, while Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Gonzalez has posted since back in February. Adrian Guzman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Weslaco East has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Donna, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
