Maywood CES has gone a perfect 4-0 against King/Drew recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Maywood CES Wolfpack will look to defend their home field against the King/Drew Golden Eagles at 2:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row dating back to last season, Maywood CES turned things around against Roybal on Friday. They never let the Titans get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Wolfpack's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Brian Aguirre and David Angulo were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Aguirre tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Angulo didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. At the plate, Aguirre scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Angulo scored a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, David Aguirre was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Dominik Iniguez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, King/Drew made easy work of Los Angeles on Monday and carried off a 13-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Eagles.
The team relied heavily on Anthony Valenzuela, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel Medrano, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
King/Drew's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Maywood CES, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Maywood CES has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. However, it's not like King/Drew struggles in that department as they've averaged .485. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Maywood CES beat King/Drew 6-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Maywood CES repeat their success, or does King/Drew have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
