Volleyball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Bourne's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Duxbury, Bourne was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Somerville Highlanders.

Bourne had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-17, 25-10, 25-19.

Avery Morrill was the offensive standout of the match as she had ten digs and three aces. She has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.

Morrill wasn't the only good servers: Bourne was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 18 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Bourne has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Somerville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-4.

Looking ahead, Bourne will square off against Case at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Somerville, they will challenge Lynn Classical at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
