Baseball Recap: Franklin Comes Up Short

Franklin was the 8-1 winner over Phillipsburg when they last played one another back in April of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors fell just short of the Stateliners by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by just one run.

Franklin got a big performance out of Kelvin Heuston, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Heuston has become a key player for the Warriors: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Elijah Zavatsky was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Franklin and nudges their season record down to 4-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Phillipsburg, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

While Franklin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
