The Olympia Spartans will challenge the Maroa-Forsyth Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Olympia didn't have quite enough to beat Athens and fell 2-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost five in a row.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Olympia sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 16-25, 25-19.
Despite the loss, Olympia had strong showings from Brooklyn Komnick, who had 15 digs and six kills, and Aubrey Rycyzyn, who had 17 digs and three aces.
Meanwhile, Maroa-Forsyth was able to grind out a solid win over PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central on Tuesday, taking the game 2-0.
While Maroa-Forsyth won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-23.
Olympia better keep an eye on Sydney Pottala. She was instrumental in Maroa-Forsyth's win, getting nine digs and two aces. That's the most aces Pottala has posted over her last eight matchups.
Olympia now has a losing record of 15-16. As for Maroa-Forsyth, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.
