Softball Game Preview: Robinson Knights vs. Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars

The Robinson Knights will head out to square off against the Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Robinson has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight losses, while Academy of the Holy Names will come in with three straight wins.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Robinson's offense. They fell 5-0 to Newsome on Wednesday.

Julia Garden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Academy of the Holy Names sidestepped Tampa Catholic for a 4-3 victory.

Academy of the Holy Names saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kacey Scott, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Elise McQuiston also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Academy of the Holy Names hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tampa Catholic struck out seven times.

The win got Academy of the Holy Names back to even at 9-9. As for Robinson, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Academy of the Holy Names' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Robinson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. It's a different story for Academy of the Holy Names, though, as they've only averaged .340. Will they be able to contain Robinson's hitters?

Robinson might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Academy of the Holy Names in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
