Baseball Recap: Leon Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chiles, Leon was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks.

Brady Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Evans Franco was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Knipple, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Leon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Leon's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Port St. Joe, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4.

Leon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-7 defeat against Anderson County on the 16th. As for Port St. Joe, they have also already played their next game, an 11-4 victory against Sneads on the 13th.
