Football Recap: Roanoke Catholic Comes Up Short

Roanoke Catholic fell victim to St. Anne's-Belfield and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Saints 27-0. Having soared to a lofty 56 points in the game before, the Celtics' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

St. Anne's-Belfield was led to victory by Jonah Brent and Rylan Goffe-Lambert. Brent rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while Goffe-Lambert rushed for 115 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries. Brent is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Roanoke Catholic now has a losing record of 2-3. As for St. Anne's-Belfield, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Roanoke Catholic will face off against Montcalm at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Anne's-Belfield, they will square off against Blue Ridge at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Saints will be up against the Barons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.4 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
