Volleyball Recap: Decatur Community Comes Up Short

Decatur Community was the 2-1 winner over Quinter when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Devils fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. While the Red Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 25-17 in the first set.

The 2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Decatur Community lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-23, 25-23.

Despite the defeat, Decatur Community saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Williby had nine digs and one assist.

Decatur Community's loss dropped their record down to 20-18. As for Quinter, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-10 record this season.

Decatur Community does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Quinter, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against South Gray on the 30th.
