Lakin hasn't had much luck against Cimarron recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Broncs will square off against the Bluejays at 4:00 p.m. Lakin will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Lakin lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Hugoton, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Broncs were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Eagles on Thursday. The game was the first time the Broncs have beaten the Eagles on their field since April 25, 2019.
Moriah Ortiz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over six innings pitched. Ortiz was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Lileah Villa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Beltran, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Lakin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Cimarron came up short against Liberal on Thursday, falling 15-5. The Bluejays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Tigi Greene was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Drew Kugler also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Lakin's record is now 6-10. As for Cimarron, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lakin has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cimarron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lakin suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Cimarron in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Broncs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
