Baseball Recap: Blackhawk Comes Up Short

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Blackhawk nor Hopewell made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Cougars lost 11-1 to the Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 on Monday.

Blackhawk saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Saliba, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Blackhawk and nudges their season record down to 11-6. As for Hopewell, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Blackhawk will venture away from home to face off against Montour at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Hopewell, they will head out to challenge West Allegheny at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
