Basketball Recap: Canyon Extends Winning Streak to Six

Canyon had won five straight games and Brandon Benjamin did his part to make it six on Thursday. The Canyon Comanches took down the Prescott Badgers 71-56 thanks in part to Benjamin, who went 12 of 23 on his way to 29 points along with seven assists and seven boards. His afternoon made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Staf Yilmazturk, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in January.

Prescott lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zane Gaul, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Gaul is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Uriah Tenette was another key player, putting up 17 points and six rebounds.

Canyon's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Prescott, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Canyon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 80-70 victory against Inglewood on the 27th. As for Prescott, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 93-87 win against Chatsworth on the 27th.
