Basketball Game Preview: Providence Grove Patriots vs. Trinity Bulldogs

The Providence Grove Patriots will head out to face off against the Trinity Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Trinity is hoping to do what Leadership Academy couldn't on Saturday: put an end to Providence Grove's winning streak, which now stands at four games. Providence Grove blew past Leadership Academy 50-27. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 23 points or more this season.

Providence Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jada Nixon led the charge by putting up 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laurel Bernhardt, who posted 13 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trinity). They claimed a resounding 53-23 win over Chatham Charter. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Providence Grove better focus on containing Mya Hooker and Madison Hill as the pair were huge in Trinity's win. Hooker dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards, while Hill went 6 of 12 on her way to 22 points and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Hill has scored at least a third of Trinity's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carolina Case, who had six points.

Providence Grove's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Trinity, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Everything came up roses for Providence Grove against Trinity in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 63-23 win. Does Providence Grove have another victory up their sleeve, or will Trinity turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
