Volleyball Recap: Waterloo Falls to Lyons in First Game of Season

Waterloo unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lyons Lions on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Lyons scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 22-25, 25-19, 25-22.

Lyons found their leader in freshman Rylee Richardson, who had 29 digs and three aces.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waterloo will take on Mynderse Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lyons, they will face off against Williamson at 6:15 p.m. on September 4. This will be the Lions' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
