Soccer Game Preview: Lugoff-Elgin vs. Richland Northeast

The Lugoff-Elgin Demons will head out on the road to challenge the Richland Northeast Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lugoff-Elgin has given up an average of 3.6 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lugoff-Elgin is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Spring Valley on Friday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 5-0. The loss continues a trend for Lugoff-Elgin in their meetings with Spring Valley: they've now lost nine in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Richland Northeast). They put the hurt on Camden with a sharp 5-1 victory on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Richland Northeast considering their one-goal performance the game before.

They hit Camden with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Steven Martinez (2), Christian Sauceda (2), and Fran Mencia.

The win made it two in a row for Richland Northeast and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored six goals over those two contests. As for Lugoff-Elgin, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Lugoff-Elgin was able to grind out a solid win over Richland Northeast when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lugoff-Elgin since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
