Columbus is 8-2 against Coral Gables since October of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Explorers will look to defend their home field against the Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m.

On Monday, Columbus came up short against Southridge and fell 28-21. While losing is never fun, the Explorers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Spartans are ranked 14th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coral Gables). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Braddock 41-0. The Cavaliers have beaten the Bulldogs the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.

Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Coral Gables, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Columbus against Coral Gables when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 33-0 victory. Will the Explorers repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
