Lisbon is 0-5 against Spruce Mountain since May of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Greyhounds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Phoenix at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.
Spruce Mountain will be up against a hot Lisbon squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Greyhounds never let Winslow get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Monday. 11 seems to be a good number for the Greyhounds as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Mackenzie Eaton made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lisbon got a massive performance out of Brook Norman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Norman has hit this season. Aubriana Bright was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Spruce Mountain got the win against Waterville on Monday by a conclusive 17-1.
Like Lisbon, Spruce Mountain also got a great game from a two-way player: Rylee Turner. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Turner was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Santika Hodgkin was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kenley Bruen, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Spruce Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Lisbon pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Spruce Mountain, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
