Baseball Recap: East Alton-Wood River Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for East Alton-Wood River's offense. They lost 10-0 to the Breese Central Cougars on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 on Tuesday.

East Alton-Wood River saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devon Barboza, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for East Alton-Wood River and nudges their season record down to 8-19. As for Breese Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Alton-Wood River will challenge Southwestern at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Breese Central, they will face off against Red Bud at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Musketeers have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
