Basketball Game Preview: Chester Yellowjackets vs. Marissa/Coulterville Meteors

Chester and Marissa/Coulterville are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Chester Yellowjackets will head out to take on the Marissa/Coulterville Meteors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Chester turned things around against Steeleville on Thursday. They took down the Warriors 49-33.

Lexie Mott was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Lillian Diskey, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Marissa/Coulterville had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They came out on top against the Musketeers by a score of 39-30.

Marissa/Coulterville's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Chester, their win ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-13.

Chester came up short against Marissa/Coulterville in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 37-24. Can Chester avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
