Baseball Recap: Asotin Falls Short of Tri-Cities Prep in the Playoffs

Asotin and Tri-Cities Prep squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Asotin had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 6-5. The Panthers have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

CODY ELLS put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one double.

ELLS wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was COLT KELLEY, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Asotin's defeat dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Tri-Cities Prep, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 27-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Jaguars beat Asotin by a score of 6-5 later that day.
