Baseball Recap: Mahanoy Area Comes Up Short

Mahanoy Area extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 2-12. They came up short against the Panther Valley Panthers, falling 12-2. The Golden Bears were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Colby Wagner made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one double. Brody Noraka also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Panther Valley, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-11. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

On Panther Valley's side, Brody Breiner made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Breiner has posted since April 4th. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danny Wehr, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Cameron Cooper was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mahanoy Area will welcome Shenandoah Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Panther Valley, they will be playing at home against Pottsville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crimson Tide have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
