Baseball Game Preview: Ripon Indians vs. Escalon Cougars

The Ripon Indians will square off against the Escalon Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ripon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Escalon will be up against a hot Ripon squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Indians blew past Orestimba 10-1 on Friday.

Fabian Nuno made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Frank Carter-Castro looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 14 consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Hunter Weber was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Haines, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Escalon didn't have quite enough to beat Hughson on Friday and fell 2-1.

Escalon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Hagan, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Escalon's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Ripon, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.
