Softball Recap: Heritage Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against Glendale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heritage Christian). They never let the Glendale Nitros get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Thursday. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Soraya Chavez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Akins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Heritage Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendale only posted an OBP of .235.

The win (which was Heritage Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Glendale, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-7-1.

Heritage Christian has already played their next matchup, a 16-1 win against Taft on the 24th. As for Glendale, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Arcadia at 3:45 p.m. on April 1. The game will give Glendale their first taste of in-conference action this season.
