Football Game Preview: Sharyland Rattlers vs. Alice Coyotes

The Sharyland Rattlers will face off against the Alice Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Sharyland and Mission Veterans Memorial, and Mission Veterans Memorial kept the tradition alive. The Rattlers fell 28-16 to the Patriots on Friday. The game marked the Rattlers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kevin Alaniz, who rushed for 118 yards and one touchdown. Abram Carrasco was another key player, picking up 87 receiving yards and one TD.

Even if they lost, Sharyland's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Ezekiel Garza was especially locked on to Mission Veterans Memorial's QB and sacked him twice. Another thorn in the Patriots' side was Leonardo Trujillo, who picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Alice lost to Pioneer at home by a 31-14 margin on Thursday.

Sharyland's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Alice, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
