Basketball Recap: Austin Hoffman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sandoval over Grayville

Sandoval lost against Grayville last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Sandoval Blackhawks took a 60-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grayville Bison. The Blackhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sandoval lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Austin Hoffman, who posted 12 points. What's more, Hoffman also racked up four boards, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Quentin Heinzman was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards.

Even though they lost, Sandoval was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Jake Hosman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grayville, putting up 24 points and eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hosman has scored at least a third of Grayville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Leavens, who put up 13 points.

Sandoval's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Grayville, their record is now 6-4.

Sandoval wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 70-57 loss against Galatia on the 20th. As for Grayville, they will take on Dieterich in a tournament on Thursday. One thing working in Grayville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests.
