Baseball Game Preview: Edinburgh Lancers vs. South Decatur Cougars

For the second straight game, Edinburgh will face off against South Decatur. The Lancers will be playing at home against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Edinburgh comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Edinburgh came into this matchup off a tough 17-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of South Decatur by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. On the bright side, the five- run performance marked the Lancers' highest-scoring match to date.

Avynn Whitaker was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Cole White was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs. Those runs were his first of the season. Milas Burkman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

South Decatur's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Edinburgh, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
