Preview: Steubenville Big Red vs. Indian Valley Braves
Steubenville is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Indian Valley is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Steubenville Big Red will take on the Indian Valley Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Steubenville walked away with it. Everything went their way against Licking Valley on Friday as Steubenville made off with a 50-26 win. Given Steubenville's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Licking Valley is ranked 173rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Indian Valley got the win against Bishop Ready on Friday by a conclusive 34-13. That's two games straight that Indian Valley has won by exactly 21 points.
Indian Valley found their leader in underclassman Grady Kinsey, who rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Kinsey's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards.
Steubenville's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Indian Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Steubenville against Indian Valley in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 41-7 win. Will Steubenville repeat their success, or does Indian Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
