Football Recap: Tylertown Has No Trouble Against Perry Central

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Tylertown's strategy against Perry Central on Thursday. The Chiefs blew past the Bulldogs 40-20. The Chiefs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 20 points or more this season.

Keonnis Davis was his usual excellent self, rushing for 96 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries, while also throwing for 166 yards and one touchdown. Those 96 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jermaine Pittman, who rushed for 82 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tylertown was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 217 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Perry Central lost, don't look at Cephus Pruitt Jr. Despite the final result, he rushed for 112 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 71 yards.

Tylertown's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Perry Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tylertown will square off against West Marion at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
