Baseball Recap: Peoria Heights Comes Up Short

Peoria Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Prairie Cyclones. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 9-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Peoria Heights saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Ahart, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Brody Jones also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Peoria Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for West Prairie, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.

Looking ahead, Peoria Heights will face off against Illini Bluffs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for West Prairie, they will take on Beardstown at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Cyclones' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
