Southeast Guilford hasn't had much luck against Wheatmore recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Southeast Guilford Falcons will square off against the Wheatmore Warriors at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Wheatmore will be up against a hot Southeast Guilford squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Southeast Guilford never let Western Guilford get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kayla Shoffner was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Shoffner was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Shoffner is crushing it when it comes to triples: she's hit at least one every time she's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Chelsea O'Bryant was a standout: she scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Alexis Hammonds was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-1.
Southeast Guilford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .760. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Wheatmore hadn't done well against Eastern Randolph recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Everything went Wheatmore's way against Eastern Randolph as Wheatmore made off with a 15-5 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Maddie Nichols was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Heiney, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Southeast Guilford pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for Wheatmore, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-6.
Wheatmore's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Southeast Guilford has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Wheatmore, though, as they've been averaging 10.6 hits. Given Southeast Guilford's sizable advantage in that area, Wheatmore will need to find a way to close that gap.
Southeast Guilford couldn't quite finish off Wheatmore in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 and fell 12-10. Can Southeast Guilford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
