Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is Franklin-Simpson's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Franklin-Simpson was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against the Allen County-Scottsville Patriots by a score of 7-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-3 back in March.

Max Wren looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Liam Heinze was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Franklin-Simpson is undefeated when Heinze posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Boy Blanckenberg was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Franklin-Simpson is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Allen County-Scottsville, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin-Simpson will take on South Warren at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Allen County-Scottsville, they will face off against Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gators' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
