Softball Recap: Genesee Takes a Loss

Genesee and Glenns Ferry squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Genesee had to settle for second. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pilots. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Kendra Meyer was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Rylie Baysinger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Genesee's defeat dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Glenns Ferry, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season.

Genesee has already played their next game, an 8-7 win against Garden Valley on the 15th. As for Glenns Ferry, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 6-5 loss against Potlatch on the 15th.
