Softball Game Preview: Zachary Broncos vs. Central Wildcats

The Zachary Broncos will venture away from home to take on the Central Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Central will be up against a hot Zachary squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Zachary was the clear victor by a 13-5 margin over Central Private on Monday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central). Everything went their way against Liberty Magnet on Tuesday as Central made off with a 27-3 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Wildcats with their most commanding win of the season.

Central is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. Zachary pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Zachary might still be hurting after the 17-11 defeat they got from Central when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Zachary avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
