League recap: Bassett breaks off league-leading run for Quincy

1A Caribou Trail recap October 1, 2013

Dallas Bassett of Quincy ran for the longest rushing play in 1A Caribou Trail this season against Brewster last week. Bassett ran for 54 yards on the play and finished with 121 on the day as his team defeated the Bears.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Okanogan beat Tonasket 35-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Bulldogs.

Bassett provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Quincy beat Brewster. He completed 15 passes for 183 yards and also ran for 121 yards. Bassett's key target this week was Connor Trevino, who caught 3 passes for 68 yards.

Tanner Hendricks put up the best numbers through the air as Chelan fell to Cashmere. He finished with 12 completions for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hendricks' favorite target this week was Kai Clausen, who caught 3 passes for 54 yards.

Stephen Wallace's team's Bassett and Trevino have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Bassett has thrown for 748 yards this season, while Trevino, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 20 catches for 424 yards. Clausen from the Mountain Goats leads the league in rushing with 411 yards.

An important game coming up in 1A Caribou Trail this week will be when Jake Johanson's team takes on Okanogan. As it stands, the Bears are in fifth, while Eric Judd's team is in first.

The Tigers made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,279 from 12,788. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 35-14 victory over Tonasket last week.
