Softball Game Preview: Cobre Indians vs. Tularosa Wildcats

For the second straight game, Cobre will face off against Tularosa. The Indians will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. Cobre's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Tularosa's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Cobre is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Tularosa just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 10-3. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Indians, who until this match were averaging 3.46 runs allowed.

Alexis Carrillo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Isis Dominguez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Tularosa pushed their record up to 14-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Cobre, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 17-7.
