Softball Recap: Continental's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Continental waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Holgate Tigers by a score of 5-2. The Pirates have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Gracie Homier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Those 17 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Maeci Dockery was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

Continental pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Holgate, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Continental will head out to challenge Kalida at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holgate, they will challenge Hilltop at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cadets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
