From behind-the-back passes to lateral-filled touchdowns, the 2022 high school football season had it all.

The 2022 high school football season was full of excitement and unexpected plays. From a behind-the-back pass to a touchdown scored on a fumble recovery, there were many highlights to look back on. Here are the top five wildest plays of the season:

5. The snap went over the head of Lexington Catholic (Lexington, Ky.) quarterback Max DeGraff, who then threw the ball to Max Bertrand. Bertrand caught it but fumbled it and teammate Bennett Williams scooped up the football and ran it in for a touchdown.

4. T.J. Lamb of Almond-Bancroft (Almond, Wis.) threw a behind-the-back duck pass to Ayden Phillips, who caught it and went into the end zone.

3. Connor O'Neill of Loganville (Ga.) threw the ball over his head, backwards, to Joshua Ruder at the one-yard line.

2. In Wisconsin, a blocked overtime field goal was fumbled, picked up by the kicking team and scored by Dawson Goodman of Chippewa Falls (Wis.) for a walk-off win.



1. With North Cobb Christian (Kennesaw, Ga.) trailing Wesleyan 15-13 with 10.8 seconds left in the game, quarterback Matty Go threw a 10-yard curl to Skyler Parker. Parker laterals the ball to his teammate and ultimately got it back, racing 55 yards for the winning touchdown.
