Basketball Recap: Titusville Comes Up Short

Titusville won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 54-24 loss at the hands of the Space Coast Vipers. The Terriers haven't had much luck with the Vipers recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Titusville lost, don't look at Kennedie Sanders. Despite the final result, she posted 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Sanders has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 22 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Braniyah Brown, who put up 18 boards and four blocks.

Even though they lost, Titusville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 15 consecutive matches.

Space Coast found their leader in freshman Zanya Smith, who earned 14 points. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in points. Phillayjah Carroll was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Titusville's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Space Coast, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-8.

Titusville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-28 defeat against Viera on the 23rd. As for Space Coast, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-8 victory against Astronaut on the 23rd.
