Football Recap: Houston County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Wayne County last Friday, Houston County came back down to earth. The Fighting Irish took a 24-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McEwen Warriors on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Fighting Irish in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Houston County still got an impressive performance from Preston Mitchell, who rushed for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Mitchell showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 52 yards.

Houston County now has a losing record of 2-3. As for McEwen, they pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Houston County will face off against Cornersville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for McEwen, they will take on Wayne County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season.
