Nobody is catching Martinsburg when it comes to the most dominant squads in West Virginia.
Video: Martinsburg football highlights vs. Spring Valley High School
See West Virginia's most dominant program in action last season. There is no question when it comes to which team has displayed the most dominance in West Virginia since MaxPreps became America's source for high school sports.
Martinsburg has etched a stellar resume since 2006 with appearances in six title games and wins in five of those appearances. Add in computer rankings finishes no worse than 12th in any season and it all equals a massive lead over the No. 2 program, Bridgeport.
Reaching title games is the best way to earn extra points in our tabulation, but consistency in the computer rankings is still important. And that's what earned Morgantown the No. 9 spot despite zero appearances in the big game.
Here is how the points break down:
1. 20 for a state title
2. 10 for a state championship game appearance
3.
Other points are based on where a team finished in the final
MaxPreps West Virginia Football Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. For example, if a team finished No. 1 overall, it would receive
25 points. If it finished 25th overall, the team would get one point. No
points are awarded if the team did not finish in the Top 25.
