Basketball Game Preview: Marcos de Niza Padres vs. Mesquite Wildcats

Marcos de Niza is 0-10 against Mesquite since January of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Marcos de Niza Padres will be playing at home against the Mesquite Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Marcos de Niza came up short against St. Mary's and fell 76-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (60), the Padres still had to take the loss.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jeidarion Richard, who went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Solo Washington, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mesquite had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 58-53 W over Saguaro on Tuesday.

Mesquite's win came from a few key players Marcos de Niza will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kobe Bradley, who posted 17 points and three steals. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Ward, who had 15 points and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Marcos de Niza and nudges their season record down to 11-5. As for Mesquite, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Marcos de Niza hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 67.1 points per game. However, it's not like Mesquite struggles in that department as they've been averaging 60.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
