Piedmont is 2-8 against Bishop O'Dowd since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Highlanders will challenge the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Piedmont's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Bishop O'Dowd's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Piedmont managed to slip by Berkeley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Highlanders came up short against the Yellowjackets on Friday, falling 10-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Highlanders, who until this game were averaging 3.76 runs allowed.
Piedmont saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Parker, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bishop O'Dowd, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Alameda on Friday as they made off with an 11-5 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Dragons as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Duncan Russell looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Bishop O'Dowd got a massive performance out of John Teti, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits Teti has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Dimitri Williams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Bishop O'Dowd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Piedmont's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Bishop O'Dowd, their record is now 9-12-1.
Piedmont skirted past Bishop O'Dowd 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
