Volleyball Recap: Tarpon Springs Spongers vs. Northeast Vikings
Tarpon Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Northeast Vikings, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spongers of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.
Tarpon Springs took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-6, 25-8, 25-16.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northeast to victory, but perhaps none more so than Macey Stroemich, who had 11 digs and three assists. Stroemich is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last six games she's played. Aaliyah Harris was another key player, getting eight kills and two blocks.
Tarpon Springs now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Northeast, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-10.
As of now, neither Tarpon Springs nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
