League recap: No. 1 Reservoir defeats No. 2 River Hill to stay on top

Howard County league recap: 5/7/12

Reservoir beat River Hill this week, 10-2 in a matchup of the league's top two teams on May 2, 2012. Reservoir is now in first place at 18-1 in Howard County and 21-1 overall.

Howard made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from sixth to fourth place in the league thanks to a 3-1 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Oakland Mills fell hardest in the standings, dropping from fourth all the way to seventh place after going 1-4 in the past week. the 'Gators (21-1, 18-1) are the No. 1 team in the league.

Glenelg's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing nine hits and seven walks to lead the league in both categories. The Gladiators's pitchers have been charged with only 99 hits and have struck out 122 batters. Logan Dubbe is tops on the staff with 47 Ks.

Davis Grove led the league with seven hits this week for River Hill. He is fourth in the league with 24 hits this year, and has a .414 batting average.



Kyle Cheuvront threw a shutout as he led Hammond to victory over Long Reach, 6-2 on May 2, 2012. He pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out three, while giving up three hits.

Tyler Hoeflich led Glenelg to a win on May 2, 2012, as he notched nine strikeouts to beat Wilde Lake, 4-2. He gave up four hits and two runs over seven innings of work.
