Summit Shasta had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the KIPP San Jose Collegiate Wolfpack with a sharp 7-1 win. The Black Bears haven't had any issues with the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Nani Ochoa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. Ochoa was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniela Ruiz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

KIPP San Jose Collegiate is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Summit Shasta didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-7 win against El Primero on the 18th. As for KIPP San Jose Collegiate, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 20-14 defeat against Latino College Preparatory Academy on the 21st.
