Softball Recap: Spanish Springs Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Spanish Springs suffered their closest loss since March 23, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers by a score of 14-12. Even though they lost, the Cougars' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.7 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Maleah Taylor stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Chisholm, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Spanish Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .536. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Spanish Springs' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3-1. As for Sierra Canyon, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
