Softball Recap: Ledford Gets the Win

Ledford is still undefeated this season after their game against West Davidson on Monday, but West Davidson came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Ledford Panthers came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the West Davidson Dragons. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Dragons, too.

Leah Leonard spent all 11 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 15 Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Tesh, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cassidy Murray, who scored two runs and stole Two bases.

Ledford's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for West Davidson, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ledford will venture away from home to square off against Northern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Davidson, they are taking a road trip to take on Wheatmore at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
