The Liberty Christian Academy Heat will head out to take on the Community Christian Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Liberty Christian Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Carolina's top teams: Lee Christian, who was ranked 16th at the time (Liberty Christian Academy was ranked tenth). The Heat claimed a resounding 55-8 victory over the Falcons. The win was nothing new for the Heat as they're now sitting on three straight.

Liberty Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Eddie Deptola, who rushed for 132 yards and three scores on only seven carries, and also threw for 73 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 132 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Deptola. Logan Potting was in the mix as well, providing Liberty Christian Academy with two TDs.
Liberty Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 208 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
One reason for the win was Liberty Christian Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Noah Horne and Caleb Malpass, who racked up 5.5 sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Community Christian got the win against Northeast Academy on Friday by a conclusive 38-12. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Cyclones just coasted through the last quarter.
Liberty Christian Academy better keep an eye on Bailey Bunn. He was instrumental in Community Christian's win, rushing for 85 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 170 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight passes. Tee Bohne was another key player, rushing for 61 yards and one score.
Community Christian's record is now 7-1. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Liberty Christian Academy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 163.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Community Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 194.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Liberty Christian Academy lost to Community Christian on the road by a decisive 38-20 margin in their previous matchup back in August. Can the Heat avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
