Portage extended their postseason success on Saturday against Merrillville. They blew past the Merrillville Pirates 83-62. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Portage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but O'Mari Evans led the charge by going 6-for-11 to rack up 17 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The contest was Evans' third in a row with at least 17 points. Garrett Clark was another key player, shooting 78% from the field on his way to 19 points and six assists.

Evans wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Portage was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. Portage is 19-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Portage, bringing their record for this year to 20-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 22.6 points. As for Merrillville, their loss dropped their record down to 7-19.

Coming up, Portage will challenge Crown Point at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Crown Point will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Portage surely won't give up without a fight. Merrillville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
