Soccer Game Preview: Canyon Springs vs. Rancho Christian

The Canyon Springs Cougars and the Rancho Christian Eagles will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Canyon Springs fell victim to Valley View and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 4-0 to the Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while the Eagles are ranked 71st).

Meanwhile, Rancho Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch last Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Santa Rosa Academy, falling 5-1. The contest was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

Canyon Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 3-3-1. As for Rancho Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything went Canyon Springs' way against Rancho Christian in their previous meeting back in January, as Canyon Springs made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Canyon Springs since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
